Her story
Arlene Price is an author, speaker, educator, mother, and grandmother. She resides in Anderson, Indiana. A Light in the Valley is her first book, inspired by times of trials redeemed by miraculous works of God.
Arlene grew up in Straughn, IN, a very small town around 30 miles east of Indianapolis. Her life experience was formed by the support of family, neighbors and church. After graduation from high school she attended Asbury University, Wilmore, Kentucky for her freshman and sophomore years but due to financial need and the lack of job opportunities in Wilmore, she transferred to Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Indiana, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. After marrying and beginning a family, she attended Ball State University to complete a Master’s in Education and later adding a degree in Counseling. She practiced elementary and high school counseling many years and ended her career at Anderson University working as a transcript evaluator for transfer students.
Arlene always had an interest in writing but also continued a very strong leaning toward music, singing in two different gospel trios as well as church choirs. She plays the piano and desires God’s anointing upon the songs being played to reach those who listen. Her interest in music began with her father’s joy in singing and her older sister’s talent on the piano.
God has blessed Arlene with four sons, Kirk (stepson), Seth, Whitney and Jared who have married and given her 11 grandchildren. In 2022 God brought her Michelle, a girl who the family has adopted to become a daughter and sister. Michelle in turn has contributed three children to add to the grandchildren list.
As Arlene’s family has reached adulthood giving her more time to pursue other interests, she has been able to follow her passion to reach outside the family with her story of God’s overwhelming power, love and desire to demonstrate His help through the wonders that only He can provide. God has opened doors for her to share her story and her plan is to follow His lead wherever the next door opens.
